Kite Festival

This past Staurday the girls and I went to the St. George Kite festival...We had a blast! It was HOT! I got about 5 shades darker but that's ok....Black is beauty :-)

So, it took a while before we got Em's shark kite up but we did and this sure brought back some memories of being back home in Jamaica.............Good, innocent fun times!

The girls wanted to enjoy a few more fun things, so they went rock climbing. I must say my daughters have no fear except for bugs :-)

Another year as a cheerleader!

She did it again! Courtney made the Snow Canyon High School 2010-2011 Cheer Squad again. It was nerve racking for me. I knew she did well but that little part of me worried because I am "MOM". This past Thursday she tried out with 29 other girls and she did FABULOUS.....I am not just saying that because she is my daughter but I must admit she looked great out there. And of course, I cried during her performance, I am so proud of her. This girl amazes me with her endurance and determination more each day. She gives everything she does her ALL...and that in itself is just amazing to me. My little "big" cheerleader.
Whats even more amazing is that she is a great scholar too! She has good grades, personality galore and beautiful, what a combination!

You had a Birthday Emily....Shout Hooray!

So my baby is now 11. I am still learning to cope with them making their own choices and being their own individual. Yes, I admit I am struggling.........
Emily wanted a Salon Party. So we had Salon de' Emily on Friday night with her friends. I did Pedicures because Melissa or Courtney wanted nothing to do with feet :-)
Melissa did manicures and Courtney did Hairstyles. Sarah crowd control and made sure every body was getting pampered! They had a blast!

The party started at 6pm Friday and ended at 11am on Saturday. However, a few girls had so much fun they didn't leave until closer to noon. Tired I am but happy that she had a blast!

Pinkies!

So, yesterday I walked into work and my co-worker was wearing the same pink sweater I was wearing. I didn't think anything of it. The entire day she was really excited and brought everyone who was passing her cubicle to my cubicle to show them the BIG excitement. After the 3rd person I was fed up and I thought to myself, "is St. George that small of a town that wearing the same sweater excites people so much." She brought her husband over and had him take a picture of us WEARING THE SAME SWEATER............

What a sight! Can you believe that this is St. George?

A couple of weeks ago, St. George experienced some major fog. You couldn't see past the front end of your car. One was literally driving blind through the fog, but it was the most amazing sight. These are photos of the St. George Temple taken from skyline drive.

Shaq has competition :-)
Emily decided that she wanted to give basketball a try and I am loving that she did. She goes to practice and every Saturday for the next 6 weeks she has 2 games a day. Last week, her team won both games by a landslide. She is good! She has great defense and wow, she is agressive on the court....

Roots from Jamaica!

Cheryl was born in Kingston, Jamaica. My roots are very deep from the island. Although, I spent most of my teen years in New York and am an american now, I still hold dear to those deep roots. The culture on raising kids, education, life, love, family and food. Mi luv mi mango!
Did you know that Jamaica has over 15 different species of mangoes? Mango is known as the fruit of the tropics. Mangoes are used in a variety of ways in the Caribbean. Green mangoes are used in hot sauces and condiments, while ripe mangoes appear in desserts and candies and in drinks. The best varieties of mangoes are the Bambay, East Indian, St. Julian and Hayden.
Jamaica also have over 20 different species of fruits!
