Malibu, CA - Pepperdine University

So Courtney was in Malibu for a week for cheer camp at Pepperdine University. She came back very tan, he-he! and very toned. Like she could be any more toned!

Anyway, she said she had a blast. And while having a blast she made a few new friends from different parts of the world. I guess this cheerleading stuff is really intense because she is really into it and it has become the most demanding thing in her life. They met stars, went to the beach and did really cool stuff.
The squad was the "Wonder Warriors" and they actually won just about every award the camp had. They came home with 4 trophies and a few of the girls won a trip to London.

From a mom's point of view, I prefer this over any wild parties, not so good friends and bad crowds. They hold these girls at a high standard and mom's standard is even higher, so I guess Courtney is held REALLY HIGH.

I am just really happy that she loves what she is doing and it is building the dynamics of an awesome young lady!

Backyard Campout

Well, the girls thought that the ultimate way of camping was the backyard. Kinsey and Jonas were visiting and they had a ball. They really enjoy being with Kinsey and I think she enjoys them too.

Stunts!

So Courtney is having a ball with cheerleading. She has really dedicated herself to this and I am very pleased with her. I believe all of us in the house knows the Snow Canyon High School cheers by art. She plays the music as she practice and we practice too. I know a few kicks myself!
Anyway, the squad is leaving for Malibu, CA for cheer camp on Sunday and they will be at Pepperdine University for this, JEALOUS! The girls are having fun and this is such a great way for them to have fun. So, there are no pictures yet of cheer camp but we will post as soon as she gets back. I am not sure if I am doing a good job as a cheer mom! I am grumpy from these early morning practices and man, our schedule is totally based on cheerleading stuff.

Anyway, enjoy these photos of Courtney practicing and at some of the many fun stuff they do. Check out Courtney's "Herki" - I hurt from looking at her!

Sarah at Girls Camp

Well, Sarah is at Girls Camp - it's her first year! Courtney and I were unable to go. Courtney has cheerleading stuff and I had to work:-(
I wanted to be there with her but duty calls. Anyway, when she is back I will post her exciting photos.

Cheerleader - Yay for Courtney!

I am not sure how many of you know, but Courtney made cheerleading this past May. She worked really hard in Gymnastics and decided that this is what she wanted, to be a cheerleader while in high school. If you know Courtney you will know that anything she puts her mind to, she does it! That kid does not quit - I am glad for that. Anyway, the day she tried out we all knew she made it. And so she did! Here in St. George when you made the team, they show up at the girls home, blind fold and take them away along with the other girls who made it, it is so cute. When they rang our doorbell, I started screaming and jumping and of course in tears just out of excitement for Courtney and man I was bursting with pride. So, anyway she is now a cheerleader for the 2009-2010 school year at Snow Canyon High School. Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of the day they came and got her but here is a photo of her with the other girls who made the team. So for mom, that means early morning practices, fundraisers, taxiing girls around, meetings and traveling to diffrent schools for games, yay!

More Grad pictures of Mel!

We had a blast at the graduation. There is nothing like having family around to celebrate memorable moments. We are thankful to those who were here to celebrate with us! Karen and her kids came down from Brigham City and also our dear friends, Kerry and Liz Lewis came down for Pleasant Grove to be here. Of course dad and Auntie Carmen were there too! The regulars were there too - Cheryl, Russ, Nick, Courtney, Sarah and Emily.

Our little get away!

As a celebration of Melissa's big day, she went to Six Flags Magic Mountain and we anxiously awaited her return for three fun filled days in Las Vegas! We visited the Wax Museum, and the girls and Russ went to the top of the Stratosphere and rode on of the rides (1449 ft.)above ground.

Roots from Jamaica!

Cheryl was born in Kingston, Jamaica. My roots are very deep from the island. Although, I spent most of my teen years in New York and am an american now, I still hold dear to those deep roots. The culture on raising kids, education, life, love, family and food. Mi luv mi mango!
Did you know that Jamaica has over 15 different species of mangoes? Mango is known as the fruit of the tropics. Mangoes are used in a variety of ways in the Caribbean. Green mangoes are used in hot sauces and condiments, while ripe mangoes appear in desserts and candies and in drinks. The best varieties of mangoes are the Bambay, East Indian, St. Julian and Hayden.
Jamaica also have over 20 different species of fruits!
